You need a coach when

Your goals are beyond your comfort zone

Your goals are complex and challenging

Your goals are too lofty for your present level of competence

Who is not your Coach

The Greedy Guru in a Robe

A Limelight hungry person

A complacent Consultant with too much fluff

The one who says - Do exactly what I did, and you will be successful

The one who says - Do as I say, not as I do

Whose only tool is a hammer Your every problem will look like a nail

Personal Coaching Fundamentalse

  • You are in the best position to solve your problems. You need someone to empower you with the tools and frameworks to enable you to do that.
  • A problem well articulated is half solved. You need someone to help you discover the words that best describe your barriers to success.
  • You are the hero of your journey. You need someone who understands this and works to liberate the Hero you were born to be.
  • You need someone to assist you with YOUR problems, not one who projects his or her problems on to you.
  • You need to be willing to be coached. The right coach will stretch your comfort zone, in other words, the right coaching will make you uncomfortable.

Importance of Coaching

It is common to assume that only well known successful people have a coach. The belief is that first one should gain success and then engage a coach. Actually, that is not true. Well known successful people used a coach to get to where they are now.

It is essential to recognize that a coach is not a consultant or a teacher. It is not the job of the coach to tell you what to do or take the actions on your behalf. There is a famous proverb – “give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a mean to fish and he will eat for a lifetime”.
